Job summary:


This is an exciting time to join the GUARDIAN Programme team at the heart of transforming the Air Defence system of the United Kingdom.

You will work in a small team coordinating and managing the delivery of the Programme across the United Kingdom and Falkland Islands.


This role sits within Royal Air Force (RAF) Capability, which is responsible for the planning, delivery and through-life support of future aircraft, air command and control, ground-based air defence and associated equipment and capabilities.


The successful applicant will become an essential member of the Programme Management Office (PMO) within the Guardian Programme team at Air Command and Control (Air C2) programme delivery team.

The PMO is the programme's process, analysis, information, and coordination hub, supporting the team and providing specialist programme management advice and guidance working together with the Programme Manager.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description:


You will have the choice to make your main place of work at either the Royal Air Force Air Command Headquarters based in Walters Ash near High Wycombe, or Defence Equipment and Support at Ministry of Defence (MOD) Abbey Wood in Bristol.

There are opportunities for some travel to other MOD locations in support of programme delivery.


Air Command is responsible for providing direction, leadership and support to an agile, adaptable and capable RAF, contributing directly to the UK Defence Mission.

The Air C2 programme delivery office consistently recruits and develops the best talent.

The individual will:


Lead in the collation and coordination, across programme stakeholders, of key programme information, ensure version control and availability to meet time-sensitive programme milestones and deadlines.


Deliver and maintain programme governance, including the collation of supporting documentation, in accordance with HQ practices, recognised methodologies and industry best practice.


Manage the programme approach to Risk Assumptions Issues Dependencies and Opportunities (RAIDO), including management of the Risk Register and facilitating and leading of programme Risk Working Groups.


Manage the Guardian programme Benefits, including managing the Benefits Realisation Plan, ensuring that it remains a valid configuration-controlled data repository and is updated ahead of each Programme Board.

Maintain and update the Guardian Stakeholder Profiles and Communication Plan.

Person specification:

Essential:

  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.

Desirable:

  • Qualification in Management of Risk (MoR) and Management of Successful Programmes (MsP).
  • Experience of digital scheduling tools such as MS Project.
