Primary School Behaviour and Pastoral Mentor (Non-Class Based)


Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and experienced Primary School Behaviour and Pastoral Mentor to join the dynamic team at a 'GOOD' school in Northfield, Birmingham.

This non-class based position is crucial to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering the emotional well-being of our students, and supporting their academic and social development.


Responsibilities:

Behaviour Management:

  • Implement and maintain a consistent and effective behaviour management system.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to address and resolve behavioural concerns.
  • Provide guidance and support to individual students or groups with behavioural challenges.

Pastoral Support:

  • Build strong relationships with students, promoting a supportive and nurturing environment.
  • Conduct regular pastoral sessions to address emotional and social needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify and support students experiencing difficulties.

Individualised Support:

  • Develop and implement individualised support plans for students with specific behavioural or pastoral needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support strategies, adjusting as necessary.

Parental Engagement:

  • Foster positive relationships with parents and caregivers to enhance student support.
  • Organise and participate in parent workshops and meetings related to behaviour and pastoral matters.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), teachers, and other school staff to create a cohesive support network.
  • Attend regular team meetings to discuss and coordinate strategies for student wellbeing.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of behavioural and pastoral interventions.
  • Provide regular reports to school leadership on the progress of individual students and overall behavioural trends.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant qualification in education, counselling, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with primary school students in a behavioural or pastoral support capacity.
  • Strong understanding of child development, behaviour management strategies, and pastoral care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
