What you'll be responsible for:

  • Manage and arrange outpatient appointments for the Surgical Services group clinical staff and their teams using the Hospital Patient Administration System (PAS/PFIS/Lorenzo), ERS, Results Reporting System/ICE and any other identified database (.g. Infoflex) to book new/followup appointments in line with Hospital Policy to meet local and national targets.
  • To view, input and update records on the trust's Patient Administrative Systems. To keep records (manual and computer) up to date.
  • To file information such as xrays and test results into patient notes and maintain filing systems in accordance with Trust procedures. To obtain laboratory results as required through the Results Reporting system/ICE or by contacting other departments.
  • To ensure that notes are available and prepared for clinic, ward discharge and outpatient appointments.
  • To manage the supply of and tracing of patient notes, ensuring that notes are requested and transferred appropriately.
  • To ensure full utilisation of all available outpatient slots through regular liaison with colleagues including supervisors, Operational Managers, Clinicians and other members of the clinical team. To manage partial booking/review lists, reporting potential overdue appointments to the Outpatient Team Leader/Deputy Operational Manager

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:

  • Grade C in GCSE Maths and English
  • Relevant experience in a clerical role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Excellent IT and typing skills
