Military Working Horses are essential in the Armed Forces, receiving top-notch welfare and training at the Defence Animal Training Regiment.
This dynamic environment, comprising Canine, Equine, and Veterinary squadrons, offers a unique opportunity. As a Groom, you'll ensure the welfare standards for horses are met in line with Defence policy.
This full-time position requires feeding, grooming, handling, and exercising horses of various breeds and temperaments. Previous experience in this field is desirable.
Grooms should be capable of assisting the veterinary team, working with all equine breeds. The role can be physical and completed alone or as part of a team.
Person SpecificationA Groom should have basic horse knowledge and be ready to work outdoors in all weather conditions to maintain welfare standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Riding, exercising, and schooling horses
- Trimming, clipping, mane and tail pulling
- Maintaining stables and equipment
- Conveying horses
- Caring for newly purchased horses
The role may offer overtime opportunities due to animal welfare needs.
