The Role:

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join the team in our highly regarded service at Redford Court, a 29-bed Service in Liverpool, the 29 beds are split over two buildings in a small cul-de-sac the main unit has 24 beds, 20 of which as flatlets and 4 self-contained flats, opposite this is a 5-bed unit Redford Court Lodge.

Both provide rehabilitation to people with an acquired brain injury. It is a unique community where the people we support can address their cognitive, behavioural, physical, and emotional difficulties. Last year, the average length of stay was 12 weeks. Redford Court also provides a continuing rehabilitation service for those with longer term needs, this addition to the service is facilitated by Redford Court Lodge

You will be trained on how best to provide personalised support to our service users. You will follow individual support plans to meet the needs and aspirations of each person.

The focus is developing independent living skills:
personal hygiene, meal preparation, exercise, leisure activities, socialising - the daily routine of regular life.

Were service users have identified physical needs staff are required as needed, to provide hands on personal care which will involve bathing and attending to the individual's care on their behalf.

All activities of this nature are fully assessed by Occupational therapists and physiotherapist depending on need, staff are then supported to follow guidance produced by the therapists with full involvement of the service user.


In this role you will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team (including Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Support Workers) using the neurobehavioural model.

The focus is to provide person centred rehabilitation that is evidence based.

This is a unique community based inpatient setting led by a consultant neuropsychologist.

The service users may have a range of complex and challenging needs including cognitive, behavioural, physical and emotional difficulties following brain injury.


You will have scope to work with service users in a holistic way to address all aspects of recovery and to regain maximal independence including participation in social, leisure and vocational activities.


You will have access to a wide range of development opportunities including:

  • Reporting to and liaising with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and clinical team
  • Behavioural monitoring with observations, data gathering and analysis
  • Producing behavioural and emotional progress reports for review meetings
  • Supporting individual service users with weekly meetings and specific activities

We're looking for someone with the following skills and qualities:

  • Upper Second Class Honors Degree (2:1) or higher in psychology or equivalent
  • Eligibility for BPS (British Psychological Society) graduate registration
  • Ability to present and teach others
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Experience of working with adults with complex disabilities
