Your new role

Hays are recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Administrator to join our client on an ongoing long term temporary assignment for an approximate duration of 12 months.

Assignment type: 12 month contract where you will be engaged via Hays

Working environment:
Office-Based

Hours per week: 37.5

Pay type:
£13.13 per hour


As a Purchasing Administrator you will be responsible for performing all purchasing tasks within your area of responsibility, including coordinating relevant stakeholders on a local and regional level, planning, sourcing, optimisation, negotiation, supplierliaison and steering, as dictated by business requirements seeking for best quality, innovation, flexibility and total acquisition cost.

You will ensure fully compliant processing of all orders and make use of the Coupa system to ensure efficient processingof orders in a timely manner and in-line with agreed KPIs.


Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • New Supplier setup
  • Analysing quotations and tenders
  • Achieving local, regional and global KPI's
  • Escalating any unresolved issues to the Purchasing Management, and/or General Manager as required
  • Responsible for authorisation and issuing frame contracts and purchase orders; managing the purchasing process from supplier to enduser
  • Running credit reports for all new suppliers and managing ongoing financial risk with existing vendors
  • Daytoday administration including developing and maintaining Purchasing Department's filing and archiving systems

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Educated to GCSE/A-Level or equivalent
  • Good verbal and written English
  • Effective organisational and time management skills
  • Proactive with offering support and ability to react quickly
  • Able to use own initiative and work autonomously
  • Familiar with the key elements of Purchase Orders together with their associated processes
  • Other language skills beneficial but not essential (Italian, Spanish, German or French)
