The new Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) bring exciting opportunities to deliver evidence-based early interventions for Children and Young People, working across educational and healthcare sectors.

Hampshire now have over 10 MHSTs and are very excited to be able to develop a Specialist MHST across the county to work with Special Schools as well as those that are Electively Home Educated.

We are looking for experienced Senior EMHPs with a strong passion and motivation for working with CYP with special educational needs including neurodiversity and young people with or without a learning disability, aiming to improve mental health, emotional well-being and self-efficacy to support the development and growth of this new MHST.

Staff will offer targeted support to CYP with various additional needs, whilst also supporting the Whole School Approach work in these networks around the CYP.

These new Senior EMHP positions will be based in the Specialist MHST and will support in the leadership and development of the growing EMHP workforce and champion Low Intensity Working.

The roles will enhance the offer from the teams in relation to the Whole School Approach and focus on all associated elements to promote resilience and wellbeing across the community.

We are seeking innovative Senior EMHPs who can adapt their low intensity interventions where needed for these young people.

You will be qualified and have at least 2 years experience as an EMHP or have experience as a Senior EMHP in order to apply.

To work as a Senior Qualified member of a Specialist Mental Health Support Team, providing a high quality, psychological therapy service to young people, their families or carers.

This will include making adaptions and reasonable adjustments to ensure accessibility for children and young people with additional needs.

In addition, to support psychological practice within the team by communicating effectively about the psychological care of clients, by contributing to the line management and supervision of psychological practitioners and trainees and less experienced psychological therapists, and by participating in systematic clinical governance.

To contribute to the development of the Whole School Approach offer within the MHSTs. To contribute to the delivery of workshops and Mental Health Promotion projects within Primary and Secondary Schools.

The transformation will happen in staggered stages Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joined Southern Health in February 2024, with Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024.

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.

Qualification from CYP Low Intensity Training Course (CWP or EMHP Post Graduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course) supplemented by demonstrable experience working as a CWP with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience (or equivalent relevant existing qualifications, skills, and experience prior to EMHP/CWP training).

Low Intensity Supervisor training qualification, or willingness to attend this during the first year in Post.
Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree
