We are currently looking to increase our numbers of Day Service Relief Support Workers to provide high quality, person centred care and support.


For some people support work is something they'd love to do, but cannot commit to a regular shift pattern or rota.

Maybe you want to do something rewarding with your summer break, maybe you just want to do an odd day here and there when family or other commitments allows?

Salary:
£11.05 per hour

Day Service working hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm

JOB PURPOSE


To work under the supervision and direction of the Day Service Coordinator(s) / Assistant Day Service Coordinator(s) in providing high quality and person-centred activities to identified groups of adults with learning disabilities.


Supporting the Camphill Ethos is a key element of the role to ensure that Camphill Blair Drummond maintains its role as a leader in care provision and that the people who live and work in our community can develop in a therapeutic social environment.

MAIN DUTIES

Providing support in activities and to designated students

  • Under supervision, provide a range of therapeutic and creative activities which meet the needs of a group of students / residents.
  • Under supervision, plan and deliver activities which aim to develop students' / residents' skills.
  • Assist the Day Service Coordinator(s) / Assistant Day Service Coordinator(s) in the assessment, planning, implementation, and review of individual support plans and participate in formal review meetings when required.
  • Keep up to date records of students' / residents' progress and attendance.
  • Assist students / residents with physical care needs where necessary.
  • Be aware of and follow Health and Safety policies and procedures and ensure that any concerns regarding Health and Safety issues are appropriately reported.
  • Assist in supporting the cultural life and cycles of the community.
  • Be flexible in providing other duties and tasks appropriate to meeting the needs of the residents / students and the rest of the community.
  • Assist during / over lunch rest hour, within Day Service, with a range of activities.
  • Assist with activities, e.g. swimming, out with CBD as and when required
  • Assist with the leadership of activity sessions, as and when required.
  • Undertake key working responsibilities.
  • To provide personal care in a sensitive manner, upholding the dignity of the individual at all times.
  • To contribute to review of personal plans / support plans for individual students or residents, and ensure all records are kept up to date.
  • To act in accordance with the Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers and Employers.
  • Leading by example and good role modelling.
  • Encourage and support the students and residents to participate in the recreational, cultural and spiritual activities are available within Day Service.
  • To maintain the confidentiality of information relating to students, residents, International Volunteers and employees, and to comply with all rights of our students and residents at all times.
  • Risk Assessments undertake all risk assessments for all participants in activity.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all residents and day students, whilst encouraging a happy, working atmosphere which reflects the ethos of a Camphill community.
  • Creating and effectively sustaining a positive relation between Camphill Blair Drummond and the families of day students. Maintain close links with the family of a key student to act as the first response in dealing with matters relating to the care of their son, daughter or relative.
  • Liaise with other external professionals as required, in agreement with the Day Service Coordinator.
