Head of Fundraising

Aberdeen, Aberdeen City, United Kingdom The Archie Foundation Full time

Summary of Position:

The Archie Foundation exists to improve experiences and outcomes for children and their families with healthcare and/or bereavement support needs.

Everything we do is thanks to voluntary donations and fundraising from local individuals and companies.

Fundraising and excellent supporter stewardship is therefore critical to the organisation and our Head of Fundraising will be central to this.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Your primary responsibility will be to proactively drive income across a wide number of revenue streams. Achieving or exceeding our annual income targets is key to the successful delivery of all aspects of the charity's business plan.
  • Your fundraising responsibility will span community, event, individual, corporate, and legacy giving across the three regions the charity operates in. You will also have the opportunity to initiate and develop new income streams for the charity, ideally including firstinsector innovations.
  • You will oversee a team of four fundraisers across our regions and will be responsible for managing and measuring their plans, performance, and development.
  • You will work closely with the Senior Management, Finance, Donor Care and Comms teams.
  • You will also work closely with many of the charity's committees, in particular our local fundraising committees and volunteerled service delivery committees supporting Archie's Neonatal Committee in Grampian and the Archie Tayside Fundraising Committee.

Community & Event /Campaign Fundraising:

The Archie Foundation annual fundraising calendar includes a small number of high-profile events, spanning the north of Scotland.

With the help of the Fundraising Officers and volunteers you will oversee and manage the successful delivery and ongoing growth of these flagship events, ensuring they hit or exceed targets set.

You will also identify new opportunities to excite and delight current and prospective Archie supporters, keeping the charity top of mind and ensuring our position as a sector leader.

Donor Stewardship:

As a long established and much-loved local charity, The Archie Foundation is fortunate to have a large number of longstanding supporters.

Our supporters are key to everything we do, and it is vital that you can quickly build and maintain a strong rapport with people of all ages and from all walks of life.

As a people person you will enjoy building relationships with our supporters, seeking novel opportunities to engage them in further fundraising for Archie and to keep them informed of the difference their support makes.

You will be skilled in ensuring that each and every supporter, whether major philanthropists or first-time fundraisers, feel truly appreciated.

You will have a strong personal network with the ability to make connections and introductions to mutual benefit.

You will be well versed in using donor database / customer relationship tools to develop and deliver strategic fundraising plans.

Corporate Fundraising:

The Archie Foundation is fortunate to benefit from strong support from local businesses - corner shops to multinationals, start-ups to iconic brands and everything in between.

Corporate fundraising for Archie comes in many forms, including charity of the year, employee fundraising, payroll giving, CSR, corporate philanthropy and more.

As a seasoned fundraising professional, you will be comfortable and confident building relationships with corporate supporters across a wide range of sectors and at all levels of the business.

You will be well practised in seeking to understand the needs and aims of employees as well as the corporate entities they work for, aligning these with the charity's needs and aspirations to deliver win-win solutions that will benefit all parties and, most importantly, the beneficiaries of The Archie Foundation's work.

Legacy Fundraising:

Legacy giving is a relatively untapped opportunity for the charity and is currently managed passively and reactively.

One of your first objectives in your new role will be to develop legacy giving as a proactively managed income stream for Archie.

PR & Comms:

Our Business Plan set a new strategy for our charity comms and PR, which has reaped rewards in regard to increased coverage and profile for The Archie Foundation.

Key to this is relationship building with our beneficiaries.

You will play a key role in presenting the opportunity for families and charity partners to share their stories about the difference Archie has made for them.

Line Management:

You will have line management responsibility for the fundraising team (currently four full-time Fundraising Officers but with the capacity for the team to grow in line with income growth).

In addition to this you will engage and inspire fundraising input and support across the board - the Archie staff team, trustees, patrons, volunteers and supporters.

As a charismatic and inspiring individual with excellent interpersona
