Here at CarFinance 247 we are looking for an experienced Lead Data Scientist to join our expanding Data Team

As a Lead Data Scientist you will lead the charge in tackling some of the most challenging and impactful problems in the automotive and finance industry. You will be responsible for leading the development of a virtual sales agent using Large Language Modelling and Agent Models as well as building and maintaining cloud hosted models that optimise the customer financing journey. You will report to the Director of Technology and keep CarFinance247 at the forefront of Technology. The role involves gathering user requirements and ideas based on your knowledge of where services can have the greatest impact, developing proof of concept and taking this through to a fully implemented service that adds business value.

key responsibilities:

  • Using the latest LLM tool such as LangChain, LangGraph & HuggingFace too add value across the business and working with stakeholders to identify use cases.
  • Leading the development of APIs to host machine learning services and managing the integration of new services and the maintaining of existing services using tools including Machine Learning Studio, Azure Cloud, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) too
  • Working with other teams such as Data Analysts, Data Engineers, QA and Developers to work on projects in parallel for efficient development. Adapting to their needs.
  • Project Lifecycle: Work on projects from initial concept through to deployment, demonstrating a drive to solve core business problems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning and communicate these to a non-technical audience, applying new methods and tools such as Lang Chain, Lang Graph, HuggingFace and others.
  • Managing a team of Data Scientists with the intention to grow the team, mentoring and providing technical guidance where appropriate.
  • Planning future work and managing the current projects daily (sprint and ticket planning in Jira)
  • Communicating effectively with the executive board including technical challenges/solutions and project timelines/milestones.

About You

  • 4 + years' experience as a data scientist/machine learning engineer.
  • Demonstrable experience with python and common modules.
  • Experience leading projects that use data, model and environment versioning and setting up model retraining pipelines (MLOps).
  • A degree in a relevant field.
  • A masters or PhD in a numerical field (maths, physics, computer science etc.)
  • An understanding of software engineering best practices and experience driving the implementation of these principles (testing, CI/CD, dependency management, package management, etc.)
  • Experience with NLP and or LLMs

  • Experience deploying machine learning models on device (edge)
  • Experience building PoCs
  • Research experience
  • Server side software development experience (Python/C++/Go/Rust etc.)
