Main duties of the job

Your role as aTheatre Practitioner Scrub Nurse is ensure that we provide the best qualityservice in a pleasant environment for both staff and patients whilst ensuringthat a high-quality, cost-effective service is delivered to patients andconsultant users. Youll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and willhave specific experience scrubbing for Laparoscopic, Gynae, Urologyand general cases. You'll be flexible and supportive with shared tasks.

Assist inthe positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical teamand ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to thelaboratory.

Help tocontrol cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, themaintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisationprocedures and asepsis.

Participatein induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcomingenvironment.

Preparepatients for clinical/ operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery.

Provideassistance in clinical/ operative procedures, both anaesthetics and surgery.

Take chargeof the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner ensuringpatient, visitors and staff safety.

Assess,plan, deliver and evaluate peri-operative patient care.

Participatein the delegation and supervision of junior grades, unqualified and lessexperienced staff.

Key Skills / Qualificationsneeded for this role:

1st levelregistration Adult and/or Children or Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies/ ODP Level 3 NVQ / ODA 752.

Previousperioperative experience in Laparoscopic, Gynaecology, Urology, General,Plastics or Kidney Transplant.

NMC or HCPCregistered.
