WT Architecture are seeking a skillful Architect with around 1 to 3 years of post qualification experience to join our studio team in summer 2024, for involvement in projects at all stages.
WT Architecture is small design-led practice of eleven Architects and assistants, based in South Queensferry, with a studio on the old harbour overlooking the Forth Bridge, and another small studio based in Kilmartin in Argyll. We have a broad portfolio of projects including community and visitor buildings, with a large part of the studio's work being on highly bespoke domestic projects often within sensitive historic built environments or challenging landscape settings. Most of our work is in Scotland.
Our studio is a welcoming and informal work environment, where camaraderie, collegial support and staff wellbeing are highly valued. We offer flexibility to work remotely for around two days a week depending on the nature of work at the time, as well as some flexibility of working hours.
We are looking for an Architect who can lead on small to medium sized projects, as well as contributing to our larger more complex projects. Excellent spatial and building design skills, and experience in technical design, detailing, specification and contract administration are essential. A good ability for working as a team and collaboration with both colleagues and the wider design team is also important. Candidates should demonstrate a good interest in how buildings are made, and sustainable construction and design.
This is a full time position, although there may be flexibility for 80 to 90% full time equivalent. The role is initially offered as maternity cover with a view to make it a permanent position.
Skills required:
- Pro-active, self-motivated, organised and conscientious approach to work.
- Teamwork and team leadership
- Creative, with excellent broad architectural design and graphic presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good experience and understanding of using 3D BIM packages, ideally Archicad
- Excellent skills in Adobe programmes, especially Indesign and Photoshop
- Skills in delivering outputs for all RIBA work stages, including detailing and specification
- Ideally a full UK driving licence and availability of own vehicle for travel
- Flexibility for some travel to distant/remote sites
- The right to work in the UK
