Textile Manufacturing Operative

Edmund Bell is seeking enthusiastic individual who are dedicated to learning new skills and knowledge to join our apprenticeship program.

This exciting opportunity will provide hands-on training and education in têxtile manufacturing, covering a range of tasks related to curtain linings, flame-retardant fabrics, bedding, and upholstery têxtiles.


Key areas of the role:

  • To learn about the handle of various fabrics, the coating of them, to check that the colour matches up against the standard and that the samples in stock are up to date against this standard
  • Operate a fabric inspection machine and roll and pack products to a high standard.
  • To learn how to use the cutting machine & fabric drill to produce C5 and C4 fabric samples
  • To learn about the different types of fabrics that are on stock, from Blackout to Woven fabrics and to learn the different product codes for each sku
  • To understand how woven fabrics are produced and faults that are likely to be found, such as weaving faults, dropped ends and dropped picks
  • To understand how supplier fabric samples and customer orders are approved
  • To understand what processes are in place for the arrival of new products; i.e. To produce new cuttings of these items, to input them onto the system and generate labels for them
  • To learn how to set up and operate digital transfer print machines to produce high quality prints
  • Receive and process digital files through AVA software.
  • Load & unload materials onto printing equipment & adjust parameters for optimal results
  • Learn routine print machine maintenance

  • GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English
  • Desirable
  • A willingness to learn and get involved

Additional Expectations

  • Your workplace and working area must be kept clean and tidy. You must adhere to the Company's Health and Safety standards as defined in the Health and Safety Policy.
  • Perform within the requirements of your position and maintain the Company's Internal Quality procedures.
  • Carry out any other duties as and when required by your line Manager. This may involve working in other departments or locations.
  • You will be supported to undertake recognised qualifications whilst gaining invaluable onthejob experience.
  • You will need to be a team player, reliable, adaptable, conscientious, and able to work to instruction

Working hours

Salary:
NMW £11.44p/h for individuals over 22, £10.18 p/h for those under 22

Hours:
Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5pm with 30min lunch - 40 Hours

Holidays:20 days plus bank holidays

Pay:
From £10.18 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
