International EduFinance is seeking an experienced

Foundational Literacy Consultant


to design and develop multilingual (English and Urdu) foundational literacy modules and tools to support teacher professional development in South Asia.


The EduQuality programme is focused on the professional development of school leaders and teacher mentors to improve the quality of teaching and learning in over 2000 low-fee private schools across South Asia, Latin America and Africa.

This role will support the development and contextualization of literacy modules, within the Teacher Mentor Professional Development programme.

The

Foundational Literacy Consultant

will report to the EduQuality Manager, Project Management and work closely with the Regional Coordinator, Asia.

The position calls for a skilled educationalist who has subject expertise in foundational literacy, including phonics development. Experience working in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) within Asia is an essential requirement for the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.nStrategy (10%)nAssess Urdu Literacy Strategy and associated research and provide recommendations for the most suitable approach, aligned to the national curriculum.nReview existing literacy modules and provide recommendations for adaptation.

nCollaborate with

Regional Coordinator, Asia

to ensure alignment of course content with non-literacy modules and to meet project objectives.

Product Development

(90%)nDevelop four foundational literacy modules (multilingual-Urdu and English),


working in an iterative fashion to review and refine the product.nProvide technical support to strengthen the capacity of staff, including internal training and tool development.nConduct thorough reviews and revisions of content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with program goals and needs.nEnsure content is culturally relevant, inclusive, and accessible to a diverse audience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYnNone

QUALIFICATIONSnA degree in Education or a related field e.g.

Literacy, Early Childhood Education.nRelevant experience (3+ years) in education, such as curriculum design, content development and/or teacher training.nSubject specialism in foundational literacy, including phonics.nA Passion for education and a commitment to promoting literacy skills development.nExperience teaching at the early years or primary age level.nExperience building in-person professional development training for teachers in low- and middle-income countries.nExperience working within the education sector and school environment in Pakistan and/or other similar markets.nAdvanced knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Suite.nDemonstrated ability to work autonomously with little oversight, strong attention to detail, and excellent written communication skills.nCommitment to diversity and inclusion.nAn understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission and core values of Opportunity International.

LANGUAGE SKILLSnWritten and verbal fluency in English and Urdu is required.
