Are you an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with the desire to work within a fast-paced surgical assessment unit covering a wide variety of specialities?


We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join an established innovative team of ACP's on our SAU at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a Major Trauma and Major Vascular Centre, Specialist Renal Centre and Cancer Centre.

You will be committed to providing excellent direct independent clinical practice, be a team player, and passionate about surgery.


The Division of surgery is looking to add to our team of enthusiastic, highly skilled and motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP's).

We are keen to hear from both fully qualified and experienced ACP's, or from those in senior positions with significant surgical experience who would wish to train to become an ACP in our surgical assessment unit and surgical specialities.


This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with experience in the surgical specialities, and in particular across the emergency surgery specialties to develop advanced skills in the management of a broad range of surgical conditions, supported with academic learning and clinical supervision should you require it.


The ACP would be responsible for ensuring the assessing, planning, management and evaluation of care to meet the personalised health and wellbeing care needs of patients, in line with the Trust's Values & Professional Frameworks Provide strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice to support day to day efficient running of the clinical area, service, in line with the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice.

  • To improve the experience and outcomes of care for patients by taking the lead in investigations and treatments prescribed.
  • To provide a consistent and personalised service by ensuring that the patients receive the best care, in the best place from the best person or team.
  • To provide social, emotional and psychological support for patients from
referral and throughout their treatment.

  • To deliver expert specialist evidence based care including: development, assessment, planning, implementing, evaluatin programmes of evidence based care for a defined caseload.
  • To make appropriate referral to consultants/other specialist/members of the multidisciplinary team in primary, secondary or tertiary care settings.
  • To be aware of risk management issues both locally and nationally and develop strategies to address identified issues.
