An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an enthusiastic Specialist Physiotherapist, that has a keen interest in working with patients with neurological conditions, to join our Band 6 Neuro Rotation at BHRUT. The post availableis a 1 year fixed term full time post with secondment considered for internal candidates.

Our established Band 6 Neuro rotation offers experience in the following areas: Hyper Acute Stroke Acute Stroke Stroke Rehab ESD Team Regional Neuro-Sciences Unit, Neuro Out-patients, Collar and Brace Service and Neuro Outliers team. You will work alongside highly specialist staff and clinical specialists to ensure quality Neuro-specific treatment to patients and contribute to the development of these services. Experience can be gained in treatment and management of a wide variety of neurological patients including vestibular and spasticity management.

As an award-winning stroke team we work closely with all disciplines to find new and innovative ways to meet high standards of care. You will have the opportunity to supervise more junior staff and students and take an active role in the in-service training, audit and research programmes.

Learning and development are important to our Team, with an established In-service training programme. External courses are supported if the need has been clearly identified through the Appraisal and Personal Development process and you will be supported in developing leadership skills in your role.

Main duties of the job To perform advanced holistic physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a clinical diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment plan

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from a Senior Physiotherapist is available as required. Supervision takes the form of regular informal/formal discussion and teaching, clinical reasoning sessions and peer review

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner

Supervise, educate and assess the performance of less experienced Physiotherapists and Assistants to ensure standards of practice are met

Supervise, educate and assess the performance of Student Physiotherapists, this will involve working with the Senior Physiotherapist and universities as required, to ensure competencies are met

Undertake evidence-based departmental audit and research projects, in association with Senior Physiotherapists, to further own and teams clinical practice. Will make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service improvements and practice changes

To carry out other duties deemed necessary by the Lead Clinician in discussion with the post holder to ensure adequate provision of service About us Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.

As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive forour teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre Radiotherapy Centre Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital.
