The University's Student Life provision brings together a range of support services including counselling, mental health and well-being, learning support (disability) and student finance. This role sits within a well-established learning/disability support service.

The Learning Support Team are one of the first and ongoing points of contact for both current and prospective students with a broad range of disabilities, learning differences and enduring health/mental health conditions, some of which are of a complex nature.

Two Learning Support Advisor positions are available and we are seeking people with are educated to degree level or equivalent. Ideally, applicants will hold a relevant qualification and/or completed professional training. In addition, the post holder will have significant experience of providing advice, guidance and assistance to disabled students within an education setting, preferably Higher Education.

Suitable candidates will be experienced and have a proven background in assessing the support needs of disabled students. They will also be demonstrate knowledge and experience in identifying reasonable adjustments, non-medical help support, and creating effective individualised learning support plans and PEEPs. Recent working knowledge and experience of assisting students in applying for and assessing support via Government Disabled Students' Allowances is also highly desirable.

Ideally, candidates will possess excellent communication, time and task management skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure to deadlines within a busy team and working environment. They will also have a proactive, solution-focussed approach to their work with good attention to detail in relation to record-keeping and administration.

One post hours per week (0.5 FTE) and is a permanent appointment subject to a probationary period of 12-months (Reference number: 4ASDWA3)

One post - 35 hours per week and is a fixed-term appointment for a 12-month period (Reference number: 4ASDW1M)
