Job Description: The Senior Sustainability Consultant will collaborate with the regional leader to implement sustainability strategies across projects and the business, focusing on integrating environmental, social, and economic sustainability principles into architectural designs. The goal is to deliver zero carbon projects and achieve Net Zero emissions by 2030.
What Your Day Could Consist Of:
- Work with the regional sustainability leader to provide sustainability thought leadership within the firm and profession.
- Guide teams to deliver high-performance projects focusing on zero carbon and zero energy.
- Support the measurement, reduction, and offsetting of the carbon footprint towards Carbon Neutral operations.
- Generate innovative ideas to combat climate change, conduct research, and implement findings into real-world projects.
- Act as an in-house sustainability leader, expert, and resource, especially in the early project design phases, utilizing various building performance modeling tools.
The Business:
- Support the growth of a sustainability advisory team to drive revenue, collaborating with architectural, interior, landscape, and brand activation teams.
- Engage externally in sustainability efforts, working with the EMEA Head of Sustainability, the Board of Directors, and Marketing teams.
- Lead research initiatives, both internally and externally, to promote sustainability achievements.
- Establish internal goals and tools towards achieving (net) zero carbon.
Projects:
- Review project sustainability goals with project teams.
- Influence future sustainability trends in building designs.
- Lead sustainability advisory projects and formal sustainability reviews at all project design stages.
- Drive sustainability research and environmental analysis within project workflows.
- Create a network of external consultants when in-house capabilities are insufficient.
- Oversee quality and submissions for LEED and other environmental ratings.
- Work towards sustainability certifications on projects.
People:
- Provide sustainability education across roles and levels, aligned with project needs and pursuits.
- Facilitate internal knowledge exchange and enroll staff in external educational programs.
- Identify and promote research streams for internal and external sharing.
Requirements For Success:
- Understanding of sustainability certifications, regulations, and green building standards.
- Proficiency in sustainability tools and software for energy modeling and life cycle assessment.
- Experience in LEED or other green building projects.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems in building design.
- Project management experience in overseeing sustainability aspects.
- Passion for environmental stewardship and sustainable design.
- Analytical mindset and strong leadership capabilities.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture, sustainability, or related field.
- 5+ years of architecture experience with a sustainability focus.
- Proven track record in leading sustainability efforts and driving change.
- Background in creative environmental design and sustainability leadership.
- Proficiency in various environmental analysis tools and software.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
