This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Chaplaincy Team for St George's University Hospitals supporting patients, staff, carers, visitors & students within St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Hospital Chaplains are a collaborative member of the chaplaincy team in fulfilling the goal of providing person-centred spiritual and pastoral care to all patients, visitors and staff, irrespective of their religion or belief in line with local and national best practice.
Applicants must have significant previous experience within Healthcare Chaplaincy, including covering urgent out of hours calls, providing staff teaching on spiritual care, delivering patient & staff support to those of all faiths and none.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will fully participate in the urgent on-call Rota for the spiritual care needs of patients, visitors and staff.Responsibility for appropriately supervising and supporting Spiritual Care Team volunteers, care of chaplaincy resources and responsibility for the handling of donations is integral to the post.
The Chaplaincy team helps to provide spiritual, religious and pastoral support for patients, staff and visitors. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Lead Chaplain with other members of the Chaplaincy team to ensure these services are developed and delivered across the whole trust and that these are of a high quality.
You will be accredited with authority to practice by your faith or belief group and be able to practice within the United Kingdom Board for Healthcare Chaplaincy Capabilities and Competencies Framework and Code of Conduct.

A large number of services, such as cardiothoracic medicine and surgery, neurosciences and renal transplantation, also cover significant populations from Surrey and Sussex, totalling around million people. The trust also provides care for patients from a larger catchment area in southeast England, for specialties such as complex pelvic trauma. Other services treat patients from all over the country, such as family HIV care and bone marrow transplantation for non-cancer diseases. The trust also provides a nationwide state-of-the-art endoscopy training centre.

Person SpecificationExperience
Essential
Significant previous experience within Healthcare Chaplaincy, including covering urgent out of hours calls, providing staff teaching on spiritual care, delivering patient & staff support to those of all faiths and none. To be Board Registered or eligible to be registered by the UKBHC, with postgraduate specialist Healthcare Chaplaincy qualification Broad knowledge of faith and belief systems to be able to work in a multicultural/multi-faith and belief context.Desirable
Knowledge of the ways in which other professions work within the health care setting.Qualifications
Essential
An established and appropriately qualified chaplain in good standing with and representative of their faith community. If of a specific faith group that requires it, is eligible to be authorised/ licensed by that group to operate within their tradition. Educated to Honours degree level.Desirable
Counselling or coaching qualification or equivalent training.-
