Job Purpose

The Global Editorial Coordinator is part of the Britbox Commissioning team, responsible for the upstream development, investment, and production of projects. This is a key role to facilitate fast-moving content workflows, ensuring that decisions on projects are made in a timely manner, that they are prioritised effectively with the right stakeholders, and that internal metrics for responding to producers and distributors are met. It also plays an important role in supporting with the evaluation of submissions that come into the team, recommending which projects require further consideration.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, with a good background in building processes and systems, and will have an editorial flair and a passion for great content.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the workflow of all upstream projects that are submitted to Britbox, ensuring they are logged, materials distributed for evaluation, deadlines for decisions set and managed, and communication back to suppliers is timely.
  • Build and maintain a map for future decisions, ensuring stakeholders have a clear view what decision is required by when and that projects are effectively prioritized according to approval timelines.
  • Manage the agenda, notes and follow ups for the key evaluation and approval meetings. Ensure that all paperwork required for these meetings is completed and distributed in advance.
  • Review treatments and scripts to advise which projects should go forwards for further consideration, ensuring that recommendations align with agreed editorial filters, overall strategy, and schedule gaps. This includes writing reader reports for submitted projects.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities and market dynamics to identify new content opportunities and create executive summaries.
  • Co-ordinate and communicate status of 'in-flight' projects to internal stakeholders. This includes advising marketing and press teams on deal closures and production schedules.
  • Provide administrative support to the Commissioning team, including scheduling meetings, preparing presentations, and supporting communication with external partners.
  • Attend screenings, industry markets and events as recommended.
  • Manage festival diaries.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects and reports as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant experience in the film/tv/streaming industry
  • Experience of script reading and writing script reports.
  • Track record of building systems and processes to manage workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate administration systems.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, exercising initiative and assessing priorities but referring issues upwards where appropriate.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard hours to accommodate international colleagues.
  • Fluency with AirTable, Microsoft Office & Google applications
