Job Summary

The Inquiries and Major Casework Team is an operational team dealing with planning appeals proceeding by way of an inquiry. Their work also involves cases determined by the Secretary of State.

The Operations Officer is responsible for overseeing the smooth administration of a full appeal caseload, from validating the appeal upon reception to issuing the final decision. They work within established deadlines and prioritize tasks on a daily basis. Duties include organizing a Case Management Conference, managing and sharing documentation electronically, handling customer queries, and obtaining necessary hard copy documents.

The Planning Inspectorate plays a crucial role in maintaining a fair planning system in England, impacting people's lives, communities, and the economy.

The ideal candidate for this role is an effective administrator and communicator, a team player who is organized and adaptable. They should enjoy interacting with the public and various professional customers within a supportive team environment.

This position involves regular communication with Inspectors, allocating casework, and interacting with stakeholders of varying expertise levels. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to adjust communication styles to suit different customers. The role requires timely responses to queries, organizing tasks based on deadlines and event dates, and ensuring the progress of each appeal according to its timeline.

Office AttendanceAll office-based roles are located at Temple Quay House in Bristol. Regular office attendance is encouraged to promote collaboration, creativity, and employee well-being. Attendance at Temple Quay House a minimum of 12 times a year is expected, with a possibility of more frequent attendance depending on the role requirements.
