Curo, a leading Housing Association based in Weston-S-Mare, is seeking a passionate individual to take on the role of Housing Support Worker, to join the Temporary Accommodation team, which forms part of the care and support element within Curo.

This role is based 5 days a week out of our service in Weston-S-Mare.

Homelessness is a growing issue in the UK. Supporting people who have experienced homelessness is a rewarding job, where you can make a positive difference every day.

Weston super Mare has a supported housing scheme managed by Curo with 38 units of supported accommodation for people who have experienced homelessness.

What you'll be doing
As a Housing Support Worker you will be working with people who:

  • Will have faced trauma and gone through a period of homelessness, you'll support them to engage with appropriate services and empower them to fulfil their potential.
  • May have experienced poor mental health, drug, alcohol, domestic abuse, trauma, and financial difficulties, working in partnership with your team and other professionals to identify and manage safeguarding cases to be able to take effective supportive action.
  • Need to maintain their tenancies and help prepare them for the future. You'll work with diverse partner agencies to identify opportunities for people to move on successfully into sustainable, independent housing.
You'll be making a real difference to our customers lives every day.

To be great at what you do, you'll need to be able to get stuck in, knowing every day will be different.

This might mean one day you are working with a person potentially in crisis, the next you are building a bed for a new customer or participating in a resident involvement event or workshop.


The successful Housing Support Worker will ideally:

  • enjoy working with vulnerable people and supporting them to meet their goals.
- be able to build effective relationships with a wide range of people including customers and colleagues, with an ability to influence and negotiate.
- be comfortable with dealing with challenging conversations, remaining confident and firm, whilst being respectful and considerate.
- have the skills to listen to and recognise what it is that our customers really want and be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes.
- have good basic administrative skills and experience of keeping and maintaining accurate records.
- will understand the need for support planning, risk assessment and inspiring people to recognise and achieve their goals.
- have good resilience and an understanding of the issues faced by people living in supported housing.
- will be able to work effectively, without judgement, but with a strong sense of professional boundaries.
