We have a unique position available for Band 5 Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers to join the team as part of a Band 5 to Band 6 Development Programme over an 12-18 month period.

This will prepare you for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner role.

  • You will receive regular supervision, training opportunities, shadowing opportunities and protected time to work towards the skills and competencies required.

Working in a busy and dynamic Adult Community Mental Health Team means every day will be different.

You will be involved in:

  • Managing a (capped) caseload for those under The Care Programme Approach
  • Shadowing initial urgent/routine assessments on behalf of the service
  • Attending multidisciplinary team meetings with our Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurse Consultants, Clinical Team Managers, Senior Practitioners, Assistant Practitioners and Allied Health Professionals including Consultant Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Associate Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists
  • Attending outpatient clinic appointments
  • Undertaking face to face visits in the community setting including home visits
  • Working with service users and their families/carers to care plan holistic goal setting and engage in treatment planning and working in collaboration with internal/external stakeholders
  • Medication administration (if qualified to do so) with opportunities to enrol in local university training programmes in medication management

  • Advanced Practice opportunities such as Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) and Advanced Nurse Practice (ANP) which has enabled clinicians to progress to Nurse Consultant and Clinical Director roles


You will need to be enthusiastic and conscientious and do everything you can to provide the best care to our service users.

We are looking for someone who displays compassion, empathy, and sensitivity in your approach to people who may be distressed or have a challenging presentation.


You will be involved in:
