NHS Durham & Darlington Talking Therapies Service, are looking to recruit a motivated individual to join our existing administrative team.

We are looking for someone who has excellent organisational skills, has a flexible approach and is able to work on their own initiative as well as being a team player.

About the role The main responsibilities of the role will be to provide full administrative support to the clinical team alongside the rest of the administrative staff.

The ability to communicate effectively with patients who may be distressed is an essential requirement as well as the ability to remain calm under pressure.


As part of the administration team, you will be required to provide a comprehensive administrative support service to all members of the multi-disciplinary clinical team.

Duties will include dealing with incoming and outgoing telephone calls to patients, family and carers as well as other health care providers.

Other duties include data entry, incoming and outgoing post, minute taking and providing administrative assistance to our locality teams.

About you You will have strong secretarial skills, sound IT knowledge and experience, with competency in Microsoft Office packages being essential.

Experience of working in a clinical area is desirable.

You will have experience of working with Mental Health and will be able to inspire and engage people and have the ability to identify barriers and understand client needs, while possessing excellent motivational skills.

This will include one to one engagement and facilitating group-based activities, sign posting and engaging people in mainstream provision.

You will have an understanding of working with people with a variety of complex needs including mental health, learning, physical and substance misuse would be an advantage for this post.

The post is based at Craglea, Lanchester Road Hospital you must have the transport means to get there.

You must hold a NVQ level 3 in business administration or equivalent or be willing to work towards this qualification What we offer You will go through our comprehensive, in-person training program in your first week of employment which will give you the tools you need to succeed in the role, as well as offering a great opportunity to get to know your new colleagues.
