Dippy, the Nation's Favourite Dinosaur has arrived at The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum CVLife are looking for Customer Assistants for the Dippy Experience held exclusively at The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, to support an exceptional customer experience.

You will be part of the Dippy visitor experience team, ensuring all visitors are welcomed and informed.

You will be helping them gain a full appreciation and enjoyment of the Dippy exhibit along with our other temporary exhibitions, artwork and collections, making it a truly memorable experience.

The Dippy customer experience team are at the front and centre of this outstanding visitor experience by providing a welcoming, enjoyable, and safe experience for all our visitors.


We require individuals who have the ability to promote customer offers at the museum so that sales and all other commercial opportunities related to the collections and exhibitions are maximised.


CVLife are looking for a Customer Assistant for the Dippy Experience who can ensure that the quality of service is of the highest level at all times, by following agreed procedures and controls for visitor experience.

The part time working hours of the role are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 9.45am - 4.15pm.

Overall purpose and objective of the role:
To provide a professional Food and Beverage service within retail and hospitality areas, which exceeds c

  • To deliver an exceptional visitor experience that enables all visitors to our museums to easily access and engage with our collections, exhibitions, events and activities.
  • To maintain a presence in the galleries and exhibitions to ensure clean and safe environment for our visitors and the safety and security of the collections.
  • To actively promote our Retail, Café, Donations offer as widely as possible so that sale and donations are maximised.

Main duties of the role:

Visitor excellence, Clean, Safe & Secure Environment:

  • Using our IT system to scan pre-booked tickets, booking walk in tickets.
  • Serving customers, replenishing merchandise, checking delivery orders, stock taking, cashing up.
  • Actively engaging with visitors to ensure every person receives an excellent visitor experience.
  • Promoting all offers across CV life venues.
  • Patrolling galleries and exhibition spaces.
  • Directing visitors to other areas of the museum.
  • Maintain visitor number records.
  • Contribute at all times to the general upkeep of the buildings by reporting any faults or damage to the Duty Manager, make suggestions for potential improvements, assisting with work required around the museum/ galleries and exhibitions.
  • Carry out cleaning work as directed by the Duty Manager, using appropriate and approved materials in the following areas:
  • Public areas, galleries, staff areas, Interactives, display cases, public toilets.
  • Operates equipment and uses chemicals only as directed by a competent person in agreement with Duty Manager.
  • Seek to ensure the safety and security of the building and the collection by means of:
  • Adhering to organisation policies and procedure.
  • Responding to any security alerts promptly.
  • Monitoring the movement of people, allowed access to secure areas of the premises, including contractors, hirers, volunteers, researchers, and students.
  • Locking and unlocking the museum premises.
  • Carrying out a designated fire Marshall role in the event of an evacuation of the premises due to an emergency.
  • Undertake regular checks of firefighting equipment i.e., fire extinguishers.
