PJ taste is the preferred choice for companies and consumers in Sheffield and Derbyshire for innovative, locally sourced, delivered, and event catering.
We offer a diverse range of menus, catering buffets for regular corporate clients with contracts including The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Museum Trust.
Our events range from weddings to fine dining and larger showcases such as catering for the Sheffield Business Awards.
These events require unique menus and approaches, resulting in ongoing enhancements and innovations in our services.
Our chefs craft everything from scratch, source ingredients from South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, support local farmers, and even cultivate their own edible flowers, fruits, and herbs.We established our first shop in May 2006 and expanded to a full external catering business in 2015.
While most of our business caters to external venues, we also have a private meeting and dining venue with 120 seats at our Attercliffe location in Sheffield.
Each day in this newly created role brings new and exciting challenges.What a typical week might entail:
Monday
- Early start to ensure the kitchen team is well-prepared for the week ahead. Collaborate with the Kitchen Manager to refine recipes and production plans for upcoming events.
- Coordinate with the admin team to respond to weekend inquiries for bespoke menus or fresh ideas.
- Mentor and demonstrate improved techniques and recipes to the team for menu development.
- Meet with a local supplier to secure key ingredients for your menu.
- Meet a client at their venue to plan operational elements for an upcoming event.
- Manage the kitchen budget, enhancing efficiency while delivering value to customers.
- Work with the management team on the marketing plan to reach sales targets.
- Train your team of Chefs and Front of House Staff.
- Conduct interviews for a catering assistant and assess trial shifts.
- Participate in a local networking event to promote PJ taste values to the business community.
- Begin later to oversee an evening function.
- Hands-on work with chefs for a fine dining event, ensuring food prep for today and upcoming events.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, order necessary stock, and manage deliveries.
- Finalize preparations for the day's events.
- Supervise buffet dispatch and plan hot food dispatch.
- Assist the Kitchen Manager with a wedding tasting, refining menu and service for the clients.
- Support the Chef and Front of House staff for smooth event delivery.
This role is new and requires someone adaptable to the dynamic catering environment.
