My client is looking for a Claims Handler on a 6 months Fixed Term Contract, who will be responsible for handling of claims arising from the Casualty business. They are now entering into a period of growth, and this is an excellent time to join a top tier claims team of a growing legacy run-off re/insurance business.

They offer hybrid working, with the successful applicant expected to attend the London office approximately 40% of the time, or more should business requirements dictate. All roles will be considered for flexible working considerations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage allocated claims to provide satisfactory conclusions for all interested parties, with a view to minimising the claims lifecycle and static claims
  • Ensure claims are handled to high standards and in line with Lloyd's Principles, internal Claims Handling Guidelines and compliance with claims Key Performance Indicators
  • Contribute to their profitability by ensuring that claims are handled appropriately, accurate reserves are maintained, subrogation opportunities are maximised, and expenses are properly controlled
  • Ensure significant developments and/or new complex claims with potential to their of USD 1m+ and/or financial movements of USD 500k+ get reported to the Claims Manager as soon as practicable for inclusion on the weekly report to Senior Management
  • Act within claims authority both financial and non-financial (including appropriate referrals with regards to declinatures and reservations of rights), ensuring compliance with the referral process for litigation against or involving my client or companies for which they have claims handling responsibility
  • Participation in quarterly actuarial reviews and reserving committees where appropriate
  • Assistance with Reinsurance queries in order to accelerate payment of their claims
  • Undertake activities/projects to enable proactive management of their claims including in relation to static claims. Comply with obligations to refer and record certain categories of claims
  • Ensure appropriate collaboration with the Claims Operations Team to enable them to meet/exceed their KPIs
  • Provide support as required in respect of current and future portfolio transfers, including support for due diligence of potential target portfolios (both Lloyd's and non-Lloyd's), and supporting the transfer of the management of claims portfolios

Skills & experience profile:

  • Experience / knowledge Casualty claims including US Casualty and Reinsurance
  • Good communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Good numeric and analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Adaptable to working in a demanding and changeable environment
  • A basic understanding of Run Off business and its place within the market
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and other claims related software (e.g., Sequel and Trax)
