The post holder will be responsible for the management of the Trusts Clinical Audit and Effectiveness functions.

This key role will drive the integration of clinical audit and effectiveness across the Trust to support the enhancement of patient care and clinical outcomes.

It will also oversee the Trusts clinical audit programmes, ensuring that the Trust meets national and local clinical effectiveness standards.


The post holder will lead and co-ordinate both the national Specialised Services Quality Surveillance Programme and the Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) programme for the Trust, working with teams and specialities to co-ordinate assessment of services, ensuring there are effective systems in place to monitor performance against key quality indicators, through supporting annual self-declarations, external visits and the implementation of action plans following assessments and self-declarations.


Key components of the role will be:

  • To lead the operational delivery of the clinical effectiveness agenda across the Trust.
  • Act as an ambassador for the national specialised services quality surveillance programme and the Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) programme, establishing close working links with services and regional/national teams
  • To provide visibility with the Trust programme of visits with the national GIRFT team and attend GIRFT Trust visits, and other external regulatory visits as notified
  • To be responsible for developing and maintaining effective partnerships and networks relating to clinical audit and NICE both internally and externally
  • Manage the process for external visits including accreditation
  • Manage the Clinical Audit and Effectiveness Team, setting clear targets and goals to ensure delivery of a highquality audit and effectiveness service.
