This role is field based. Full time hours, 40 hours per week (8am – 4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch).

Vital Power is looking for a Generator Service Engineer to join their growing team.

As Generator Service Engineer you will have an integral role within the service team, assisting in the delivery of the businesses on-site activities.

You must be able to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer expectations and achieve our company goals.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:
nTo cover all aspects of generator servicing including oil & filter changes and oil, fuel, and coolant sampling.


To conduct load bank testing on customer owned generator units.nTo accurately fault find and diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues.nTo work on a broad range of generator / engine brands including (but not limited to) Cummins, Perkins, Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Scania, Iveco, Dorman.nTo be able to work independently on engines from 2kVA to 2.5mVA.nTo complete all types of engine repairs (both mechanical and electrical).nFuel pumps, engine belts, starter motors, fuel hoses, cooling systems, AVM's etc.nBatteries, battery chargers, water jacket heaters, starter cables, key-switches etc.nTo be able to interrogate different control systems such as DSE, ComAp and DEIF.nTo understand changeover systems.nTo be able to complete or assist on mechanical engine rebuilds / top end overhauls.nTo be able to complete or assist on control panel upgrade works / retrofits.nTo assist with projects where required.nTo demonstrate knowledge and experience of both mechanical and electrical skill sets.


Person SpecificationnCriteria - Education, Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:
nGood level of general educationnPrevious experience in similar generator services companies or within the power generation industrynValid CSCS/ECS cardnAbility to manage own workload and establish prioritiesnExperience of working effectively as part of a team as well as independentlynAbility to solve problems with a positive attitudenSelf-motivated and able to learn quicklynStrong attention to detail with high levels of accuracynWillingness to undertake further training as required for professional developmentnAble to liaise with customers professionally and convey information

Desirable:
nBrand-specific generator training coursesnControls systems training coursesnElectrical qualifications – City & Guilds, 17th/18th edition

What you can expect:
