Are you seeking an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and customer-focussed team with enhancing the student experience as a key motivator? We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our Assessment and Student Cases support team.

The team has responsibility for providing high level, proactive clerical support for the good administrative management of assessment and student cases activities undertaken within the School at undergraduate and postgraduate (taught) levels.

An ability to set up standard administrative systems and procedures and work to a high standard of accuracy with attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload within established time scales.

The team currently work a hybrid model working on campus for certain activities or remotely from home depending on business need (the option to work on campus full-time is available).- This position is full-time, 35 hours per week and open-ended.


  • Starting salary: £22,197 (with 4 annual increments up to £24,144 (final salary at top of grade 3)

JOB PURPOSE


Provide an administrative service to the School of Healthcare Sciences, engaging in and completing a range of routine tasks to meet operational and customer service requirements to support the school's assessment and student cases activities.

    Key Duties
  • Deal with a range of enquires from internal (staff & students) and external customers in a professional manner, establishing their needs and adapting the standard responses accordingly.
  • Work with others to make recommendations for the development and improvement of current University processes and procedures.
  • Create good working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels.
  • Actively contribute to the success of the team and support the supervision and management of it.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the arrangement of assessments, including assisting in the preparation of examination papers, arranging venues as required, preparing attendance lists and undertaking communications with staff and students as required.
  • Coordinating and processing submission of assessed work by students and liaising with relevant colleagues as appropriate.
  • Distributing assessed work for marking in a timely manner as per the agreed arrangements for each module, liaising with module leaders and markers, accurately recording marks and facilitating compliance with assessment schedules.
  • Supporting the Assessment and Student Cases Support Officers in the production of assessment schedules and
  • Completion of any annual SIMS related tasks.
  • Support the Assessment and Student Cases Support Officers in the collation and analysis of pertinent information, making sure the information is accurate, identifying problems and making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Liaising with external examiners, including notification of assessment schedules and board dates, forwarding scripts as appropriate and advising of any issues or delays.
  • Undertaking appropriate work in advance of and following examining boards including preparing appropriate spreadsheets, setting up the venues, taking minutes at the meetings, uploading results to the Student Information Management System (SIMS).
  • Supporting where necessary the activities relating to individual student cases in providing timely information and updating records as necessary in close liaison with the Assessment and Student Cases Officers.
