Your mission


As a key member of the Gen2 leadership team as Head of Operations you will lead, develop and manage all aspects of Government funded delivery ensuring high quality delivery as defined by the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and other key quality standards.

The Head of Operations will work with the Head of Quality and Curriculum to develop and promote the culture of continuous improvement in all aspects of our apprenticeship provision.


You will demonstrate a solid track record in operational management and delivery in Education with current knowledge of all government initiatives and reforms.

They will ensure that we respond to the needs of industry, employers and our learners and that we establish and maintain our apprenticeship provision as the benchmark for quality, creating a platform for sustained growth and opportunity.


A member of the Senior Management team at Gen2, you will act as a role model for our behaviours and live by our organisational values.


What you'll be doing

  • Lead and develop operations, covering all areas of Government funded curriculum delivery and operational management providing inspirational, valuesbased leadership to the team, enhancing employee engagement, encouraging and supporting staff CPD and maximising all staff's contribution to delivery.
  • Grow and develop the existing delivery team, working with the Business Manager to recruit to hard to fill vacancies and benchmark and implement best practice in staff engagement, rewards and wellbeing within training.
  • Manage the delivery of operational KPI's, utilising management information to monitor learner retention, progression and achievement and taking steps to ensure that all learners realise their potential and succeed in a timely fashion. Continuously review and develop performance indicators covering both quantitative and qualitative areas.
  • Line manage the Deputy Head of Operations and all Centre and Curriculum Managers, utilising the Honest Conversations process (appraisal) to agree realistic performance targets and agree individual development plans. Act as Coach to develop all direct reports.
  • Develop and continuously review apprenticeship process and procedure in order to continuously improve and ensure a highquality apprenticeship journey.
  • Develop a solid internal communications strategy that ensures the learner journey is seamless and benefits from welldefined ownership at every stage of the journey from IAG to exit interview.
  • Continually review and develop the curriculum offer to meet the needs of young people and adults of Cumbria, adapting the curriculum to respond to local need at each of the Cumbrian Centres.
  • Maintain and develop own knowledge by staying up to date with apprenticeship reform and funding rules to support the Head of Funding and Compliance and contribute during business planning and reforecasting cycles.
  • Represent Gen2 as agreed at national, regional and local level to ensure its effective promotion.
  • Contribute to the effective marketing, PR and recruitment for apprenticeship provision.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Quality and Curriculum and Director of Education & Training contribute and help facilitate the successful delivery of the Gen2 teaching and learning strategy.
  • Be conversant with Selfassessment, Ofsted, and Education Inspection Framework processes and policies, as well as OfS's role in assurance of higher and degree apprenticeships.
  • Ensure that the curriculum being delivered is innovative, high quality and utilises best practice, including the delivery of robust and substantial off the job training which meets or exceeds the recommended requirement.
  • Collaborate with employers so they support the development of curriculum.
  • Develop strong client relationships with customers where appropriate
  • Promote and direct the implementation of Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and learner welfare policies in all aspects of the company's work
  • Proactively contribute, as part of the Gen2 senior management team, to delivering the Technical Training strategy at Gen
