We are recruiting a Team Leader to assist in supervising and leading the team to fulfil our charities aims and objectives.

Responsible to:
Chief Executive / Service Manager
Hours: 36.5 hours per week Monday to Friday

Salary:
£26,562 annual salary

Job Purpose:
To manage, develop and deliver a range of projects within the service portfolio through effective management of the staff teams
To build effective working relationships with commissioners and other relevant stakeholders
To support the development and implementation of the organisations business plan
To work effectively as a member of the senior management team

Hours of Work:

36.5 hours

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To manage services and staff in non casework related services.
  • Working with the Service Manager, ensure all services within their direct line management meet budgetary and contract requirements and continually strive to increase efficiency and value for money
  • To build effective working relationships with commissioners and other relevant stakeholders ensuring Birmingham Irish Association is well positioned to respond appropriately to the demands of existing and new contracts.
  • To monitor contractual and service delivery risk, and report areas of concern to the Service Manager
  • To keep up to date with changes in legislation, policy or practice that will impact the delivery of services within the remit of the portfolio
  • To manage staff in a way that ensures a highly skilled and motivated staff responsive to the needs of the service and the service users
  • To ensure continuous improvement in service delivery via appropriate monitoring, audit and performance management processes.
  • To ensure that all staff receive the necessary training and development opportunities to meet the competency requirements of their roles.
  • To provide regular line management, review and appraisal to staff within their teams
  • To adhere to Birmingham Irish Associations policies procedures and practices
  • To attend supervision meetings, staff meetings, Birmingham Irish Association's AGM, annual appraisal meetings and other meetings as required
  • To undertake training and development opportunities
  • To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • To work in a non-discriminatory manner at all times
  • To carry out any other duties; which may be determined from time to time by the Service Manager, in line with the aims and objectives of Birmingham Irish Association and in keeping with the purpose and grade of the job.

Team Leader
Skills and abilities

Good level of written and oral communication skills
Competence in the use if IT packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email)
Ability to prepare clear and concise reports
Strong organisational skills
Good level of planning and decision making skills
Ability to manage a budget
Demonstrable skills in the collation and analysis of data and information
Ability to lead, manage, motivate, train and monitor performance of staff
Ability to lead meetings and make effective presentations
Ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative and supportive manner
Commitment to promoting diversity and equality
Experience/Knowledge

2 years of management experience, preferably in the voluntary sector
Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and practice
Experience of service development
Experience of recruitment, selection and inducting staff and volunteers
Good knowledge of IT and related systems
Knowledge of the Irish community and their experiences (desirable)
Experience of training development and delivery (desirable
