Content Marketing Manager - Swindon

Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Content Marketing Manager to join our team on a 3-year FTC starting from July 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile project to improve the work experience of all Trust colleagues. Our staff intranet, Acorn, contains information, organisational news, systems and processes which thousands of colleagues use to do their day-to-day jobs on a range of devices.

You’ll lead for content in our intranet improvement project, setting the strategic direction for content improvement for the next two years and designing and running the management processes needed to deliver and maintain it beyond that.

You’ll be passionate about delivering audience-focused content which enables people to do their jobs efficiently and effectively. We want an experienced content professional who can bring their knowledge of similar (internal or external facing) projects to challenge our established approaches, bring stakeholders with us and help us deliver a step-change in employee experience.

What it's like to work here

We're bigger than you think, we're more complicated than we appear and we're larger scale than you'd imagine. We've got passionate people in all our teams, and we've got so much more we want to achieve. We're forever, for everyone and we really mean that. We don't want to stop at 5.5 million members and we want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy access to our places, so we need to reach new audiences in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them without losing the hearts and minds of those that are already with us.

You’ll report to the Senior Project Manager for the Acorn Improvement project, working closely with the Internal Communications team. You’ll build and lead a new team to ensure the successful management and evolution of our intranet content, in a fast-paced, performance-focused workplace.

You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon with an expectation of a minimum of 1 day per week presence in the Swindon office to lead your team in-person and meet with stakeholders. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be growing and leading a new content team, initially one content designer to be recruited alongside you, with more content designers joining the team in coming months. You’ll work in collaboration with the IT and internal communications workstreams as well as with a wide variety of specialist stakeholders across the organisation covering the breadth and impact of the Trust’s work.

You’ll have oversight over the content improvement workstream, setting the direction for intranet content by developing a content strategy, governance framework and iterative delivery processes.  Day to day you’ll be primarily responsible for managing the team and engaging stakeholders with the work audit, refresh and continually improve content to deliver a significant improvement in employee experience.

You’ll use data and analytics to develop your approach and enjoy delivering measurable improvements. You will receive full training in the WorkFront system we use to support workflow management.

Who we're looking for

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. The role profile is focused on our external-facing channels, however for this role you will be focusing on our internal intranet. we’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • The ability to think strategically and practically to realise measurable objectives for content improvement.
  • Subject matter expertise on content design, content marketing, web accessibility and user experience principles.
  • Understanding of segmentation, audience needs and use of analytics data to make content management decisions.
  • Experience of growing and leading a diverse and high-performing matrix team.
  • An understanding of information architectures, search engine optimisation and audience needs.
  • Experience of building relationships with a range of Stakeholders with differing interests.
  • Planning and organisational skills to prioritise complex work and manage iterative content design processes.

The package
