YHA Ravenstor and Ilam Hall are looking to recruit a Dual Site Activity Manager for 25 - 42.5 hours per week.

The management role will be split between the two home sites YHA Ravenstor and YHA Ilam Hall. The role is a crucial part of delivering our YHA Activities Program between the two sites, developing and leading our team of Activity Team Members to deliver our LOTC accredited educational experiences to 1000's of young people annually.

What will you be doing as a Activity Manager?

The Activity Manager duties will include:

  • Liaising with groups and leaders to organise groups residentials and activity programs
  • Completing pre visits
  • Working with young people
  • Overseeing the delivery of activities within the hostel
  • Managing the activity staff and team
  • Managing groups onsite
  • Risk assessing
  • Assisting with other areas of the hostel, when necessary, flexible, confident

In addition, you may:

  • Support other Regional Teams across the network
  • Support Central Education Team
  • Travel to other hostels outside of your home sites to support with activity delivery

What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Activity Manager?

We value lived experience just as much as previous skills and knowledge. We offer a robust induction, ongoing training, and further development, however, some of our roles will have further skills requirements. Our Activity manager role requires flexibility to cover different shifts and tasks. It’s an advantage but not essential that our duty managers have worked in a face-to-face role with customers previously. Experience in hospitality or customer service would be advantageous, including the management and delivery of a quality service.

Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications would be desirable but not essential. Experience working knowledge of managing varying pressures, including significant peaks in workload demands and experience of managing a team is essential.

Duties vary so good communication skills, excellent timekeeping and basic IT skills are advantages.

Knowledge and understanding of YHA’s core purpose and experience of working in a team are beneficial.
