What it's like to work here

Thriving Morden Hall Park is a tranquil former deer park at the heart of the community; a perfectly preserved country estate, a green oasis and wildlife haven in the heart of London.

Our team work with many volunteers and community groups to deliver our conservation work and create opportunities for the public to engage with our work and understand the National Trust’s cause. This is an exciting time to join our team as we would like to develop new opportunities to engage the local community, stakeholders and public in the work we do.

What you'll be doing

You'll be leading and managing the development and delivery of the Morden Hall Park strategic plan for volunteering and communities. With a strong focus on seeking out and building relationships with existing and potential new partners and community groups, you will also increase the confidence and capability of our volunteer managers.

As Senior Volunteering & Community Officer, you'll support us in creating a positive, flexible and inclusive environment for existing and future volunteers, local communities, and partner organisations. Reporting to the Volunteer and Community Manager, you’ll be helping make Morden Hall Park a place which attracts diverse communities and all ages, and where everyone feels welcome.

You’ll be leading on the development, implementation, and evaluation of Morden Hall Park’s volunteer and community strategic plan and identifying opportunities to actively engage with local communities, foster opportunities for participation and partnerships and champion the National Trust’s Everyone Welcome agenda. You will be building relationships with new audiences and communities to foster a positive reputation and increase our relevance in the local area as well as managing the balance between local community needs and realising our wider public benefit aims.

A key aspect of the role will be managing our volunteer network, ensuring people have a voice and an opportunity to share skills. This will include leading Morden Hall Park’s Volunteer Forum and the coordination of some of our established volunteer-focused events, from seasonal briefing to volunteer recruitment days.

You will also be helping in writing funding applications for projects and producing bid responses in order to meet organisational objectives.

Diversifying our audiences and workforce is really important to us and we value lived experience and character. If you’re excited about this role but you don’t meet every requirement in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway if you have other experience and skills which are transferrable. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have;
  • Understanding and good practice of volunteer management.
  • Understanding of good practice in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and partnership working.
  • Practical and successful experience of developing and implementing new products and approaches to volunteers.

  • Strong communication skills.
