Hestia's Housing Services Department is a team ofstaff who assist with accommodation services, with targeted supportto persons with mental health needs. Each role has a small patchfrom 50-140 units within a geographical area. The size of the thepatch to manage allows us more time to offer further services forthe assessment and service user finance management.
A day in thisrole looks like….
As a HousingManagement Officer at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in ourHousing Services. Your contributions will directly influence thelives of our service users, guiding them towards a path ofempowerment and independence.
A day will neverlook the same and some of the things you can expect to do/beresponsible for are:
- Manage anallocated patch of properties for housing managementfunctions.
- To ensure the housing managementfunctions of health and safety of the property, maintenance andvoids control, are kept according to policy.
- Management of service users rent/charges collection,arrears avoidance control, debt management.
- Under the direction of your line Manager, liaise withpartner Registered Providers, ensuring adherence to ManagementAgreements.
- Agreement sign ups and exitmeetings with service users.
- Management ofservice users DWP, Revenue and Benefits.
- Working with the Rents team to ensure new service usershave their rent accounts established.
- Supporting new service users to apply for welfarebenefits, including housing benefit and establish personal chargepayments.
- Undertaking any necessary legalaction, including leading on the pre action protocol.
- Providing weekly/monthly/quarterly performance reports toyour line Manager.
- Undertakedaily/weekly/monthly building health and safety.
- Oversee and follow up on any repairs reported by staffand service users.
- Ensure that any repairs areactioned within the relevant timescales, keeping service users andsupport staff aware of progress and maintain records.
- Working in partnership with support workers, LocalAuthorities and referrers.
- Maintain the safetyand security of the building, including leading on the completionof property risk assessments.
- Work with thesupport workers to develop a psychologically informedenvironment.
- Develop supportive and positiverelationships with service users and colleagues.

- An in-depth understanding of all aspects of housingmanagement.
- DWP,revenue and benefits legislation knowledge. Rent collection and arrearsrecovery management, plus an understanding of the pre actionprotocol.
- Anunderstanding of civil options available to ensure the safety ofthe building.
- Knowledge and experience of move on options for peopleliving in supported accommodation.
- Computer literate with the ability to useelectronic recording systems to accurately record data.
- A strong sense ofaccountability.
- An ability to lone and self-manage their owntime.
- A highstandard of written and spoken English. Numerate with the ability toanalyse and present financial data to a range ofaudiences.
- StrongIT skills.
- Ability to achieve objective through working in partnershipwith internal and external stakeholders. Able to work sensitively withservice users.
- Able to visit accommodation sites to carry out service usermeetings.
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health issues, drugand alcohol dependency and young persons support.
