Salary:         £20,906.25 per annum

Hours:          37.5hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract:      Fixed Term - 12Months Contract, Term Time only

As part of ourcontinued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a 1:1Alternative Provision Instructor/ Support Worker to join ourclose-knit team at Belmont Secondary School located inRawtenstall.

About therole

Under the direction ofthe Head Teacher, SENCo and Alternative Provision Lead, carryout the professional duties of a 1:1 Instructor bysupporting the designated pupil in educational activities withoutside agencies and Coordinating and implementing other activitiesand lessons as applicable to raise attainment for the pupil withspecific barriers to learning, raising attainment to ensure thepupil makes the required progress.

PrimaryResponsibilities:

  • Inpartnership with the Alternative Provision Lead ensurethe provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevantand differentiated curriculum that is appropriate for thepupil you are supporting that meets his needs andinterests.

  • To contribute toraising the standards and attainment for the individualpupil you support whilst providing appropriate activities topromote a positive confidence in pupil’s ownability.

  • To facilitateand encourage a learning experience whichprovides the student you support with theopportunity to achieve their fullpotential.

  • Work with thepupil you support on a 1:1basis to improve their numeracy andliteracy skills, and complete the relevant assessments to show therelevant progress being made.

  • Help deliver the entry level, functional skills,AQA unit awards scheme and GCSE courses offered at the school andassist with ensuring all applicable paperwork is completed, liaisewith exams officer to ensure the pupil you support is entered forexaminations under direction of the teaching staff orSMT/SLT.

  • Assist withdepartmental data assessment entry and progression tracking and usethis data to identify pupil needs and where targeted support ismost needed.

  • Liaise withrelevant staff and/or SMT/SLT to help facilitate learning throughassisting with procurement of resources, planning andimplementation of lessons and assist with work scrutiny and markingfor the pupil you are supporting.

  • Ensure the provisions used hold the relevanthealth and safety procedures in place, all the relevant riskassessments are completed and the procedures and implementation oflearning is up to date with latest curriculum developments and bestpedagogical practice.

  • Comply with all wider school policies relatingto safeguarding of pupils and professionalconduct.

  • In the absence ofthe student you will be required to attend the school and supportin the relevant areas required. This role will be predominantly asa Support Worker but could include other roles such as admin orpastoral support.

  • To workclosely with the Alternative Provision Lead and Assistant HeadTeacher to ensure all the relevant checks and risk assessments arecompleted for all Educational Visits involving the pupil yousupport.

  • To play aproactive part in ensuring that all activities in place arerelevant and suited to the pupils needs.

Qualifications 

  • Ideally Grade C/4 or above in Englishand Maths
