Anopportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative WardSister at the YorkshireClinic.

The Yorkshire Clinicprovides care and services for elective surgical patients within abroad range of surgical specialities from Urology, Gynaecology,Colorectal, Orthopaedic, ENT, General Surgery, Cosmetics andPlastics. We also have some Medicalpatients. 

The successfulcandidate will have current NMC registration, good managementexperience in a similar role, with proven ability to lead a teamand develop nursing services. With excellent organisational andcommunication skills they will also be required to manage the dayto day operational running of the Wards while ensuring highstandards of care for all patients throughout their stay. The Wardsat the Yorkshire Clinic consist of two Wards Day Care andIn-Patients.

Duties&Responsibilities:

• Demonstrateoutstanding clinical practice at all times and to be accountablefor own actions.
• Clinically Shift Lead theWards
• Lead on key Quality Governance areas toevidence safe, effective care i.e Infection Prevention, ClinicalEffectiveness, Audit.
• Identify best practicesand apply to Ward Care and Service Delivery i.e NICE Guidance,NCEPOD. 
• Prioritise workloads and directstaff accordingly.
• Make efficient use ofavailable resources with regard to budgetary constraints andbusiness objectives.
• Assess, plan and evaluatecare, based on individual patient and familyneeds
• Promote MDT working to maximiseeffectiveness of service delivery, the team includes Consultants,Allied Health Professionals, RMO, Nurses, Healthcare.assistants, and AdministrationStaff.
• Evaluate the work of the team and ensurestandards are met.
• Ensure clinical audit andquality assessment procedures are undertaken to assess the qualityof care delivery 
• Continually seek todevelop clinical skills and delivery of care to meet service usersexpectation
• Risk assessment and management,ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff andcolleague.
• Support and act as role model forjunior staff a learning environment, assessing training needs andensuring these are met.
• Ensure equipment is ingood working order and meets the needs of thedepartment
• Assist the Ward Manager inmaintaining accurate patient records and staffcompetencies.

Essentialfor the post:

• Strongclinical background in surgicalnursing
• Proficient computingskills
• SLIP course orequivalent
• NMC- Registered GeneralNurse
• ALS / ILS
• Leadershipexperience
• Excellent organisational andcommunicationskills
