Hours:             37.5hours per week, Monday to Friday

As part of our continuedgrowth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a SEN TeachingAssistant to join our close-knit team at Westbourne School locatedin Sutton in Ashfield.

About therole

To provide a high qualityeducation support service to Service Users and in accordance withCompany policies, procedures and practices and the standards set bythe Regulatory Body.

 Responsibilities

  • To support the class teacher/tutor inorder to ensure the delivery of a high quality education for allstudents

  • To support theclass teacher and/or tutor to ensure that all relevant educationpolicies and procedures are implemented infull

  • To provide relevantand appropriate support to students, on an individual or groupbasis, in order to enable them to access the curriculum asindependently as possible

  • To promote, in line with Company policies, thephysical, educational and moral development of thestudents

  • To ensure that theavailable equipment and resources are used, stored and maintainedefficiently, reporting any maintenance issues to the appropriatestaff

  • To support the classteacher and/or tutor in organising the classroom, its resources,student groupings and displays to provide a stimulating learningsituation appropriate for students with autistic spectrumdisorder

  • To support theteacher/tutor to write, update, implement and evaluatedocumentation relating to the individual student. This will includeBehaviour Support Profile (BSP), Individual Risk Assessment,Individual Education Plan, Communication Profile, and PastoralSupport Plan as required and appropriate

  • To work collaboratively with the class teacherand/or class tutor to adequately plan to ensure the safety ofstudents, in line with risk assessments, while both on and offsite

  • To produce appropriateand effective resources/teaching aids at the request of, andfollowing a brief provided by, the class teacher and/ortutor

  • To contribute as amember of the School’s multi-professional team, ensuring goodworking relationships with colleagues

Westbourne School caters for pupils aged 11-18 and we aregrowing to 85 pupils across two sites. You will be responsiblefor planning and delivering various subjects across the curriculum.Differentiation and individualised learning strategies are vitalskills required to meet the needs of all our pupils who will havehad varying degrees of success in their educationallives.
