Cumbria, United Kingdom The National Trust Full time
Project Officer - Wasdale

Summary

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***

*Internal Applicants only

Our colleagues work for the National Trust in many locations and sometimes don't have easy access to internal vacancy listings. Using the internet ensures we can reach as many of our colleagues as possible. We appreciate that this can be frustrating for external talent. Do note that some roles are released externally after an initial period of time.

The Upper Duddon partnership is one of the successful Landscape Recovery projects selected across England. In January 2023 the project began a two-year development phase, to scope out potential options to farm and manage the land in ways that will help nature thrive and recover. At the end of this development phase, local farmers involved in the partnership will have the option to enter a 20-year scheme to implement the changes on their land that they have helped design. We are now looking to recruit a Project Officer to help us deliver the next phase of this exciting nature conservation project.

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week, flexible working Monday to Friday

You'll be identifying potential risks to project success and developing strategies to mitigate these risks. You'll be conducting surveys and monitoring wildlife populations to assess the health of habitats and the success of restoration efforts.
You'll develop and update conservation plans in collaboration with ecologists, land managers, and other stakeholders whilst securing funding through grants and other sources and prepare existing funders reports. You'll engage with local communities, schools, and interest groups to raise awareness about the project and the importance of landscape recovery and working with local farmers, landowners, and community groups to ensure their involvement and support for the project.
