Are you looking to develop your career in Food & Beverage? The National Trust is renowned for its food and hospitality. We run 185 cafes all over England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we'd love you to join us.    We have an opening for a Food and Beverage Assistant Manager. Because we are in a rural area, please think about how you’d be able to get here for work, before applying for the job.   Hours: Five days over seven, including weekend rotations and bank holidays. Glendurgan Garden closes from late October to February, so you’ll spend more time at Penrose, The Stables, during winter.   Salary: £27,000pa   Duration: Permanent   Interview date: TBC   Potential start date: 27th January 2025

What you'll be doing

Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, you’ll lead the team in delivering exceptional service to all our visitors, creating an environment where everyone feels welcome. As Assistant Manager, you’ll be working across our three unique sites—Glendurgan Teahouse, Penrose The Stables, and Gunwalloe Kiosk—throughout the year, adapting to seasonal needs and ensuring consistent, high standards of food and service at each location. By helping to drive our financial targets and contributing to our income, you’ll be supporting the National Trust’s mission to care for our special places, ensuring they can be enjoyed for generations to come. We offer a tailored induction, food safety and allergens training, and ongoing development opportunities to ensure your success.

 

  • Glendurgan Garden Teahouse: Known for its freshly prepared menu, homemade cakes, and scones, open February-October.
  • Penrose The Stables: Open year-round, serving hot and cold drinks with barista service.
  • Gunwalloe Kiosk: Open April-October, offering a relaxed spot with drinks and snacks.
  • Durgan Ice Cream Kiosk: Volunteer-operated but overseen by our team.
