We are recruiting for a Senior QS to join our talented Commercial team. Reporting into our Managing QS, you will be core in providing commercial support for one of our recently awarded sections on the C1 North project.

About our role:

Contract administration

  • Ensure efficient management of all commercial functions of the packages of work you are responsible for
  • Provide commercial support to the Project Director, Commercial Director and the Commercial Team in managing the delivery of the project
  • Liaising and co-ordinating with production, engineering, design and procurement teams
  • Ensuring compliance with the commercial requirements of the conditions of contract and Works Information.
  • Coordination of the contract insurance requirements, management of claims and renewals.


Subcontractors / Procurement

  • Negotiating terms and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers that apportion risk to those best placed to manage that risk and deliver best value to the project and the Client
  • Ensuring subcontractors and suppliers are managed within the terms and conditions of subcontracts and supplier contracts
  • Review, approve and ensure payment of interim and final accounts (including final account sign-off.
  • Review and agree costs to complete / forecasts


Cost Management

  • Ensuring costs/value are collected, collated and reported in accordance with requirements
  • Supporting Align's programme of audits to verify records of Defined Cost
  • Preparation and submission of interim applications for payment and agreement of final account


Change management

  • Responsible notification of early warnings, compensation events and submission of quotations in compliance with the conditions of contract
  • Prepare, submit and agree early warnings and compensation events


Risk / Opportunities

  • Review and advise on newly identified risks and opportunities for best project return.
  • Identification and implementation of mitigation measures.


People management

  • Manage commercial team to ensure delivery of above items and develop their knowledge
  • Provide support and training for site staff on commercial issues


About you
You'll have demonstrable experience as a Senior QS with experience of working within civil engineering. A team player and strong influencer, you'll have strong stakeholder engagement coupled with an ability to juggle multiple priorities to meet stringent deadlines. You'll also have strong knowledge of NEC suite of contracts as well as demonstrable sub-contractor management.
