About the Role

Our in-house Home Improvement Agency (HIA) enables vulnerable residents to live independently. You will be providing advice, assistance and support to older or disabled residents who wish to adapt their homes.

You must be a highly motivated and enthusiastic Caseworker for our HIA who has experience of working within the HIA sector or another relevant area such as Housing, Social Care or Benefits advice.

You will be required to visit residents in their homes in order to undertake financial assessments, complete a holistic checklist and an understanding of the different types of adaptations undertaken by the HIA.

Key Responsibilities

  • You must have a detailed working knowledge of the benefits system to assist clients in making applications and to appeal/challenge decisions where necessary in order to maximise their income.
  • You must have a working knowledge of services and support available for vulnerable clients. Make referrals where appropriate and look for alternative funding for clients to assist with adaptations, including making charitable applications on their behalf.
  • You will work closely with Social Services departments, OT's, external contractors, charitable, voluntary and statutory agencies and represent the team by attending meetings and forums as required.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience 

  • Experience of working in a HIA or similar environment
  • Undertaking Complex financial assessments
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessments and working with clients who exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Ability to collect and analyse complex data and information from a range of sources.
  • Experience of working with clients who are vulnerable due to old age, physical disabilities and mental health
