Birmingham, United Kingdom OFWAT Full time

Join Ofwat’s RAPID Team as a Communication Lead 🚀

*Office Location: Birmingham (B5 4UA) or London (E14 4HD) with hybrid working*

About Us

We are Ofwat, the Water Services Regulation Authority, a non-ministerial government department responsible for regulating the water sector in England and Wales. Our work has genuine significance – no other organisation does the work we do. It’s unique and meaningful: keeping our water flowing; ensuring water bills don’t cost a penny more than needed; holding water companies to account. Come and work at the source of everyday life.

The Role

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Communications Lead to join our RAPID team RAPID is the Regulators' Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development, bringing together expertise from Ofwat, the Environment Agency and the Drinking Water Inspectorate.

RAPID is at an exciting stage of its development. It was supporting a portfolio of 18 major infrastructure projects with a potential investment value of around £17bn during Price Review 19. Collectively these would meet the water needs of around 6 million people. Customers, businesses and communities will be impacted by the development of the new major water infrastructure schemes. It is therefore important that the public and other stakeholders have confidence that the right options are being put forward to deliver key outcomes.

You will implement RAPID’s communications strategy, working closely with the senior leadership of RAPID, its regulatory partners (the Environment Agency and Drinking Water Inspectorate), and other teams in Ofwat including the Major Projects and Markets Directorate. You will be leading on critical work to build public awareness of the need for the RAPID solutions by highlighting the challenges around water scarcity, due to the impacts of climate change and population growth.

You will be required to support the planning and delivery of high-profile events, through RAPID and working alongside the Ofwat engagement team. You will be able to provide high quality written and verbal briefing and be able to effectively project manage and marshal resources to deliver a wide spectrum of engagement activities. As well as using measurement and evaluation to learn from successes and iterate and improve planning, on an ongoing basis, to maximise outcomes.
