MAIN RESPONSIBILITES: 


  1. Ensure the provision of an effective and timely file building function for all criminal offences submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service and for summary traffic offences for Court and Police Led Prosecutors.
  2. To work with partner agencies to ensure that there is continual opportunity to refer victims and witnesses via the correct pathway ensuring that their needs are met and the relevant care is provided by an appropriate public or third sector body.
  3. Working with the appropriate organisations and their constituent departments to ensure early identification of risk, resolution of issues and addressing concerns.
  4. To act as the first response for internal and external dissatisfaction and complaints about the service and/or colleagues within them, dealing with the matters in a timely, proportionate, transparent and inclusive manner.
  5. To ensure the provision of an efficient typing service and to ensure the effective maintenance of an Interview Library.
  6. To work with partner agencies to ensure resolution of issues, continuous improvement and maintenance of effective service provision.
  7. To supervise the fixed penalty system and the Driver Education process ensuring parity with education over prosecution throughout Warwickshire Police area.
  8. To ensure accurate and timely updating of all Force systems used within the unit, in accordance with MoPI, Force policy and national guidelines.
  9. To provide management information (routine and ad-hoc) as requested in a timely manner and to promote the reputation of the Criminal Justice Unit.
  10. To chair and attend as appropriate, joint - agency meetings at Force, regional and national level in representation of the Criminal Justice Unit.
  11. To perform the role of first line supervisor to a team of police staff managing sickness, recruitment, training, contingency planning and performance management in line with force policy.
  12. To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

  • Regular travel throughout Warwickshire Police area

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge:

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade A-C including English and Mathematics.
  • Level 3 (or equivalent),Management qualification
  • A thorough and demonstrable understanding of the Criminal Justice System, Specifically the prosecution of offenders and evidential requirements necessary for a successful prosecution.
  • Legal working knowledge of all areas of Criminal Justice
  • Thorough and current knowledge of Victims Code.
  • Knowledge of the working practices of one or more agencies in the Criminal Justice System (or relevant third sector).

Experience:

  • Significant supervisory experience, within a customer care environment, dealing with challenging and in some cases, life changing and emotional issues. 
  • Able to work within and support a team working under pressure to strict deadlines with high and varied workloads.

 

Key Skills:

  • Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to research and collate information.
  • Ability to undertake discreet pieces of time critical work as requested.
  • Competent in the use of IT, including Microsoft packages.
  • A commitment to maintaining knowledge of any relevant legislative changes affecting the business processes.
