The Therapeutic Arts team is formed of a group of expert practitioners and academics delivering a range of four post-graduate accredited therapy programmes, Art therapy, Dramatherapy, Music therapy and Dance Movement Psychotherapy. Our focus is on the students, their learning, and their practical experience in comprehensive placements.

We are seeking an Associate Lecturer to support the delivery of our MA Music Therapy programme. This strongly recruiting programme is delivered part-time over two years and teaching takes place on Mondays and Tuesdays. Students undertake clinical placements and individual research projects throughout the remainder of the week. There will be a need to attend some departmental meetings and undertake some standard university training. 

The Impact you will have

With a focus on graduate employability, you will be involved in all aspects of training arts therapies students. You’ll support students' development to become practising therapists in their chosen modality and with an approach rooted in taught theory, clinical experiences, group exploration and self-understanding. This requires a commitment to the student journey and the development of Music Therapy as a profession. You will join an established team of professionals and support developments in the field, through pedagogy, research and clinical skills. You will take on specific responsibilities within programme development e.g. placement co-ordination and have a real understanding of the subtle differences between being a clinician and an educator. 

You will be an experienced Music Therapist with knowledge and experience of teaching, lecturing and supervision at Masters Level. Exuberant and committed to student success; you will be an excellent team player and strong communicator who is well-organised, flexible and able to work under your own initiative. You will need to be registered with the British Association of Music Therapists and the Council for Health and Care Professionals. This is a hybrid role with teaching delivered in person but some supervision and team meetings, as well as administrative duties able to be delivered by home working, though there may also be a need for some in person meetings/training.
