CPL are currently partnering with one of Ireland's fastest growing companies within the Human and Veterinary health sectors. They specialise in laboratory diagnostic equipment and also provide a range of point of care systems.

We currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join them in their new state-of-the-art Laboratory in Belfast â On a full time, permanent basis.

Roles & Responsibilities;

  • Conduct laboratory trial procedures in alignment with approved protocols.
  • Revise and create laboratory manuals, including planning for out-of-hours service provision.
  • Offer routine technical assistance for the proper handling, processing, storage, and documentation of clinical samples, adhering to HTA and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Keep the laboratory prepared for inspections at all times.
  • Update and enforce Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and systems following GCP and GLP standards, while ensuring compliance with MHRA requirements.
  • Engage in quality audits related to the laboratory and develop corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  • Take responsibility for professional actions and work independently for extended periods without direct supervision.
  • Complete and maintain GCP training along with necessary regular updates.


What we are looking for;

  • Educated to degree level in a biological science or equivalent experience
  • Substantial experience in clinical chemistry/biomedical laboratory work
  • IBMS Certification would be a significant advantage
  • Knowledge of safety regulations such as HTA, HSE and COSHH
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Laboratory QMS system
  • Experience of GCP/GLP or other regulatory environments in the workplace
  • Experience of developing and implementing Quality Assurance Systems to meet legislative requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing new systems for improvement
  • Experience of writing, maintaining and reviewing controlled documents and producing information for external reports (e.g for regulatory agencies)
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk management process
  • Experience of use and requirements of electronic errors/ incidence records eg Datix
  • Experience of process innovation and other service improvement initiatives
