Responsibilities:
Assist in managing relationships with existing suppliers for timber and other consumables. Continuously seek out opportunities to reduce costs and improve procurement processes Support the negotiation of favorable terms and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost-saving targets Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure timely delivery of goods Stay up-to-date with market trends and pricing to make informed procurement decisions Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and cost savings achieved Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies
Requirements:
2-3 years of experience in procurement, ideally within the manufacturing or construction industry Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build effective supplier relationships Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Confidence in making procurement decisions and driving cost-saving initiatives Good telephone manner and proficiency in MS Office Willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and get things done
Ideal Candidate:
Proven track record of achieving cost savings through effective procurement strategies Experience in sourcing and procuring timber, ironmongery, glazing and other materials used in garden buildings Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive to continuously improve processes and deliver results Able to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively
Not Suitable For:
Candidates without any procurement or purchasing experience Those who are uncomfortable negotiating with suppliers or lack the confidence to drive cost savings Individuals who struggle to build and maintain effective working relationships Those who are not able to work independently or as part of a team Candidates who are not willing to "roll up their sleeves" and get involved in all aspects of the procurement process
