HPC Software Resolution Engineer

In our Business Unit HPC, MCS and Hewlett Packard Labs, we focus on cutting edge, high-performance, high-scale customer solutions serving a wide range of industries and end-users.

As an HPC Software Resolution Engineer you will be responsible for defining, troubleshooting, and resolving specific issues and problems with HPE customers and solutions. You will also be focused on post sales issues but will assist pre-sales engineers, training, and professional services as needed/requested.

In a typical day as an HPC Software Resolution Engineer, you would:

  • Manage customer post-sales support issues from start to finish. Triage customer issues, determine hardware or software, initiate proper corrective actions, and elevate when necessary.
  • Focus on customers and solutions using HPE hardware and other vendors' hardware.
  • Effectively combine technical expertise with customer service in the process of working toward a resolution to the customer issue.
  • Ensure the proper collection of data from customers to ensure proper problem diagnosis.
  • Coordinate and mediate all customer support interaction for assigned accounts
  • Build and sustain trusting relationships with customers and vendors
  • Manage escalations to product engineering, ensuring issues are documented completely and are technically sound. This includes managing the communication to/from the customer from HPE.
  • Provide feedback and input to regional and corporate management as well as a variety of cross functional teams

If you areâ¦

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a Computer Science Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline.
  • Have comprehensive HPC File System knowledge, Lustre or GPFS.
  • Excellent in verbal and written communication in English, including with presentations.
  • Excellent customer handling skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of storage hardware concepts (e.g. SAN, RAID, SCSI, Disk Drive, etc.)
  • A professional with complete understanding of storage software concepts (e.g. Backup, File Systems, Volume Mgrs, Replication, Virtualization etc.)
  • Extensive Linux Operating System knowledge.
  • Good at partnering, innovating, and making things happen.
  • Willing to work "On call" on a team rotating basis.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a Computer Science Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years + technical support experience, preferably in the Storage/Server and/or HPC Industry.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Using appropriate engineering design tools and software packages to design components and solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of material properties and hardware, software, and electrical component design
  • Using empirical analysis, modeling and testing methodologies to validate product designs and specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
