The Role:
Develop an annual, risk-based Audit Plan, prioritising reviews with clear, risk-focused justifications. Coordinate specialist third-party services for technical audits, while personally leading key internal reviews. Ensure the audit plan is delivered on time and within the approved budget. Produce detailed, well-structured reports for the Board and Executive Committee, highlighting key risks and the effectiveness of controls in relation to the business. Maintain independence as a credible third line of defence, adhering to best practices in internal audit. Build strong relationships with management to support the timely completion of actions arising from audit findings. Lead initiatives to strengthen the organisation's risk management and control culture.
Skills and Experience:
Strong knowledge of internal audit standards and regulatory requirements within financial services. Expertise in internal control systems and audit practices relevant to financial institutions. Extensive experience in conducting internal audits in a regulated financial services environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and manage complex communications with a range of stakeholders. Proven senior leadership experience, with the ability to guide and influence at the executive and board level. Regulatory approval for the SMF5 role (prior SMF5 experience not required).
